Carpet Smells Like Urine

Carpet smells like urine.

Cleaned carpet now smells like wet dog. The heat from the carpet cleaner actually embeds the urine smell and stain into the carpet thus making it worse. This odor can linger throughout the entire room. This will only make it worse.

In this method a significant amount of water and solution is applied to the carpet. Firstly most carpet cleaning uses water. Just like laundry carpet is a fabric and sometimes additional products are needed to remove odors. Once the urine has spread out treating it yourself is very difficult.

This is due to the gases released by the bacteria that are digesting the urine. There are a few possible reasons your carpet now smells like a wet dog. To remove the odor you must treat it for it. If any of the urine remains in the rug fibers it will continue to smell.

Depending on the cleaner that was used to remove the stain from the carpet the urine odor may remain after cleaning. Also never use vinegar or anything with ammonia. The odor also attracts your pet to that same spot which could lead to more accidents on the carpet. With urine problems you need pet odor neutralizer that is designed to kill the bacteria and break down the ammonia.

When pets use the carpet as a bathroom the smell can really linger. Only a select number of carpets out there do require these ingredients to work. Even after a carpet cleaning the smell of pet urine may return.
