Typically you hit the end of a knee carpet stretcher with your knee to move the carpet as the teeth of the kicker grip the carpet.

Push the teeth of the knee kicker into the carpet approximately 1 inch from the wall.
Work your way along this edge repeating the operation then cut and tuck the carpet edge between the gripper rail and skirting board.
You be the judge.
Use your knee to kick the padded end of the kicker so as to jog the carpet forward whilst pushing down on the edge of the carpet so that it is held by the carpet gripper.
Step 4 slam your knee swiftly into the cushioned end of the knee kicker to hook the carpet onto the tack strip.
4 trim the excess carpet.
Stretching a carpet and securing it onto the tack strip requires special tools such as a tamper trimmer and knee kicker but these carpet stretcher instructions will show you everything you need.

To use the knee kicker place its head about 6 inches 15 2 cm from the wall and use your leg just above the kneecap to finish the stretch.
This tool also comes in handy for going back over the carpet after the power stretcher has done the bulk of the work to give any trouble spots some extra care.
